Updates to Enterprise Data Access Reports
10/29/2026
Enterprise Data Access (EDA) gives customers powerful tools to get data out of SchoolInsight. Technically sophisticated users can select data from across the site, join related information, apply filters, and create customized exports. These queries can be run on demand or used as part of integrations with other systems.
We recently released several improvements to EDA. The changes give customers more control over the format of their exports, make it easier to build queries that stay current over time, and improve support for OneRoster identifiers.
Blank Columns and Custom Column Names
When exchanging data with other systems, the required file format doesn’t always match the way data is stored in SchoolInsight. An external system may require a specific column name or expect a column to exist even when SchoolInsight has no data to populate it.
Data Queries now support custom column names and blank columns.
These options are available on the Column Order tab. Users can change the name of a column in the resulting export and add blank columns where needed.
This should make it easier to build exports that exactly match third-party specifications and reduce the need to manipulate files after they leave SchoolInsight.

Rolling “Today” Date Filter
Data Queries already provide filters to limit which records are included in an export. We’ve now made date filters more useful for queries that run repeatedly.
Users can select Today when filtering date fields. Unlike entering a specific calendar date, Today is a rolling value that uses the current date each time the query runs.
For example, when integrating with third-party student software, a Data Query may need to include only students who are currently enrolled. Users can now filter on the student’s Enrollment Exit Date relative to Today to exclude students who have already exited. Because Today automatically advances each day, the query continues to return the currently enrolled student population without requiring someone to regularly update the filter date.
This functionality is available on the Filters tab and should be especially useful for saved or scheduled queries that run throughout the year.

Improved OneRoster GUID Support
We also improved support for OneRoster Globally Unique Identifiers (GUIDs).
OneRoster GUIDs are now available as exportable data in EDA, making it easier for customers to include these identifiers in Data Queries and other integrations.
We also updated our standard OneRoster exports. Customers can now choose from a set of GUID’s for Students, Courses, and Staff. This provides additional flexibility when integrating SchoolInsight with systems that rely on OneRoster identifiers.
These changes should make it easier to maintain consistent identifiers between SchoolInsight and external applications, particularly when customers have more complex integration requirements.
Note - OneRoster GUID configuration should not be changed midyear without consulting with SchoolInsight Technical Services.

EDA is intentionally one of the more flexible and powerful tools in SchoolInsight. These improvements continue our work to give customers greater control over their data and make it easier to integrate SchoolInsight with other systems.
